THE DRUMS - I WANNA GO SURFING

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

When I first met Jon Pierce it was a few years back at Happy Endings on a tuesday at the Six Six Sick party… God I had so many amazing times there..can we please have 66s back? okay anyway.. when I first met Jon Pierce I had no idea that he was the lead singer or used to be the lead singer of Elkland.. a band I first saw in Miami when Revolver was at soho lounge that I remember falling in love with.. I loved Elkland and had a huge crush on the lead singer… ofcourse.. now imagine how shocked I was when I was at the papermag nightlife awards last year and they announced that the scheduled performance by fuck, I don’t remember.. was it katy perry? whatever.. was being replaced by the drums because who ever was supposed to perform was sick.. or had broken a leg or something like that.. that after loving their performance and once again thinking the lead singer was mad hott… that it was indeed Jon Pierce with his new band.. Compared to Elkland, the band is noticeably different and on an interely more mature level but still has those fun, playful beats and attitude. If you don’t agree, well then like CEE LO says FUCK YOU .. and FUCK HER? too.

Ok, thats all the reviews for now as I have a full night ahead of me and if you don’t know well,…..

THIEVES LIKE US - YOUR HEART FEELS

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

“see you in the club, see you in the crowd, see you in the west, see you on the east side”…

I dedicate this to all the current club kids in nyc nightlife

The “clubkids” of today are a much different breed than those of the actual “club kid” era.
They are savvy, well dressed, sometimes shabby, hipsters, tatts, fashionable, skinny jeans, rock and roll, black drab, music lovers (well you know what I mean, those kids.. the hipsterish-y ones). I’m happy about this and who wouldn’t be, it’s all the beautiful kids with an edge, a style of their own and an eye on musical integrity…but also with a great realness… soooo not LA. watch video and die. I die

Stay tuned for more tomorrow !!!

THEOPHILUS LONDON - HUMDRUM TOWN

Friday, September 10th, 2010

When I first met Theophilus London I was at some new years eve party… granted I can’t remember which one that well but it was in some clothing company/turned performance space/loft somewhere in Brooklyn.. I was pretty wasted by the time I got there as New Years Eve usually entails going from club to club to house to club to rando obscure, sometimes silence of the lambs looking coco dens… you never know where you’re gonna end up on new years but.. luckily I ended up in the right place.. The crowd was a mesh of black and white, hispanic, all sorts of races, colors, faces. The mood was electric and Theo’s performance blew me away.. After talking to Theo after the performance I was like.. wow, he’s actually a really cool guy and not a prick like most people you meet in the music scene these days. After a while I went downstairs to take a cigarette break and next thing you know some drunk bro dude starts harassing me for being gay.. I was like wtf bra? next thing you know, Theo comes down and sees this and is like fuck you homeboy.. ima fuck you up and goes back inside then comes running past me with like 3 other guys.. and they start running after the homophobe.. totally the best moment ever.. I’d just met Theo and he was already defending me against the hateful. So, in my eyes, Theo is superman and his tracks are Kryptonite. Very very valuable. Wait till you hear the new stuff that I was lucky enough to hear a recent Webster Hall show. It will blow you away too. (This is not the new stuff though, kinda new, but not newest)

and Ok, I’m just gonna throw another track in here that I really love, which is kinda my favorite even though it’s a remix of the original Miriam and Amadou’s Sabali.

Stay tuned for more tomorrow !!!

GREGGOR SAYS …..

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

First off, Cee Lo Green with Fuck You. I guarantee that you’re gonna hear this song EVERYWHERE soon. Not only is the Song fucking awesome but the video is amazing and something you can watch over and over and over again.. as I already have.. I’m thinking.. could be up for song of the year.. but then again.. if it’s song of the year for the grammy’s I’ll really be astounded as they gave away last years album of the year to some country band when it was up against coldplay and radiohead.. I mean.. really? I’m starting to notice a pattern as the year before, album of the year was given to a different country band.. the people who run the grammys are probably a bunch of country bumpkins.. anyway, that being said.. who really cares about the grammy’s.. It’s all bullshit in the first place and definitely not up to date with the best new music. Let’s hope this song wins an award with a credible music source.. as I’m sure it will in time.. since, right now it is so new and SOOO FUCKING FRESH!

Stay tuned for more tomorrow !!!

PINK HAIR

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

it’s not just something the scene kids and harajuku girls do.

although it looks very cute on them.

it’s graced the runways for designers such as anna sui.

it’s been featured in print for brands such as juicy couture. apparently marie antoinette was partial to it as well.

even lily allen got into it!

there’s just something about perfect cotton-candy baby-pink hair. ornamental, photogenic, and softly-striking.

i’m into it.
